A few years after the work of Antonius, around
CE 150, the Odenwald line was given up and the frontier advanced some
thirty kilometers to the east. A new line was constructed starting from
Miltenberg on the Main. Units from the Odenwald section were moved up
into new forts and the auxiliary forts in the Odenwald were decommissioned.
An initial stretch of the advanced limes follows the lie of the land as far as Waldürn. Beyond this, in the absolutely straight Hadrianic style, the limes runs south-southeast 80 kilometers to Haghof. Here the line turns eastwards into the Remstal on the boundary between Upper Germany and Raetia. The Pfahl ends, to be replaced by the Raetian Wall to Eining on the Danube.
