Little is known of Palaic apparently spoken in the province of Pali north-west of the Hittite capital Hattusas (Boghazkoy).

It is only found in the religious texts of one deity, Ziparwa. Palaic is closely related to Hittite but, like Luwian, has a different inherited base of non Indo-European origin. Passages in the Hittite texts written in Palaic are introduced by an adverb « palaumnili ».
